DESCRIPTION

The Division of Arts and Humanities at the University of California, Berkeley seeks applications for a pool of outstanding lecturers to teach in the Summer Minor in the Digital Humanities.
Courses are offered in a six-week session, July 2, 2018 - August 10, 2018.

Responsibilities:

General duties (include but are not limited to): Teaching topical digital humanities courses offered in the Summer Minor program. These courses fall under four categories: Digital Humanities and Archival Design; Digital Humanities and Text and Language Analysis; Digital Humanities and Visual and Spatial Analysis; and Critical Digital Humanities. In addition to classroom responsibilities, general duties include holding office hours, assigning grades, advising students, preparing course materials (e.g., syllabus), and maintaining a course website.

Minimum Basic Qualifications (by the time of application):

The minimum basic qualification is an advanced degree (Master's level or equivalent degree), with a major/culminating project in the digital humanities.

Preferred Qualifications (by start date):

Relevant college-level teaching experience is strongly preferred.

Syllabus: The syllabus should suit our summer teaching schedule (six hours of instruction per week, for six weeks). It should be a topical seminar that falls under one of the following course categories: Digital Humanities and Archival Design; Digital Humanities and Text and Language Analysis; Digital Humanities and Visual and Spatial Analysis; and Critical Digital Humanities. Please identify the category under which the proposed course would be offered.

For those who are not US citizens or permanent residents, a legal permit that allows work in the United States (such as a US visa that allows employment) is required by the start date of the position. The Division is unable to provide a visa/work permit.

Salary:

Salary commensurate with education and college teaching experience. Starting minimum full-time equivalent annual academic salary is $53,402.
