Job Summary:

The individual in this position is responsible for defining and maintaining a Sales Practices and Product Governance oversight and monitoring program. This role will be responsible for developing and implementing a robust Sales Practices and Product Governance oversight and monitoring framework in conjunction with the first line business and compliance. The framework will be aligned with the bank's operational risk and compliance frameworks and established oversight and control programs.

Major Responsibilities:

* Build and maintain a framework for 2nd line of defense oversight of sales practices and product governance.

* Working with other line of business subject matter experts (SMEs) and in partnership with Compliance, define and maintain policies and standards for managing sales practices and product governance.

* Work with the First Line and Compliance to identify a sales practices governance body to provide centralized oversight and management of sales practices activities and to monitor and manage policy exceptions.

* Work with the First Line and Compliance to develop and execute formal lessons learned process when significant events occur, including a process for analyzing the underlying root-cause.

* Incorporate sales practices risk into Second Line risk management processes, such as monitoring, reporting, risk assessments, testing protocols, tracking of employee conduct, customer and employee complaint management, and regulatory rules mapping.

* Validate existing and new business procedures for incorporation of sales practices related risks and controls.

* Integrate sales practices into the Second Line regulatory change monitoring process to track new and revised regulatory and industry expectations and provide oversight of the change management process.

* Define sales practices and product governance metrics, including risk appetite metrics.

* Develop robust analytics techniques that mine various data sources in order to identify and assess potential emerging risks.

* Work with New Product Approval team to define product lifecycle and define BAU product governance procedures and monitoring, including testing of product features.

* Identify changes in regulatory expectations, business conditions and strategy that could potentially create unanticipated risks related to sales practices and product governance.

* Participate in special sales practices, product governance and other operational risk initiatives.

Stakeholder:

* Work in close cooperation and collaboration with the business managers, operational risk partners, compliance partners and Business Unit Risk Managers and their teams.

Industry:

* Participate in industry committees and forums to maintain awareness of trends and best practices.

* Understand and monitor changes in applicable regulatory requirements and expectations to enhance internal plans, strategies, policies and practices on an ongoing basis.

Interactions / Interpersonal Skills:

* Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.

* Able to build relationships with people at all levels and work with various stakeholders across the organization.

* Experience in working with regulators and auditors.

Business and Technical Knowledge

* Broad view of the financial services industry and operational risk, sales practices and product governance best practices.

* Experience in one or more financial industry risk, control, and governance disciplines (e.g., operational risk, compliance, sales practices, audit, and third party risk management.)

* Strong knowledge of banking processes and consumer customers, including knowledge of regulatory requirements and expectations and industry practices.

* Experience in writing, maintaining and communicating policies, procedures, frameworks, standards and job aids.

Qualifications:

* Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Accounting, or related field

* 10+ years of experience in operational risk management, sales practices, customer experience, customer complaints, product governance, compliance, internal audit, management of bank processes, or related field

* Strong written and verbal communication skills

* Knowledge of operational risk management techniques

* Strong analytical skills

* Experience in writing policies and procedures

* Able to collaborate well with internal and external stakeholders

* Able to act as a SME on operational risk policies and standards
